Sometimes the reality of others lives is too much to bare. Working in Cambodia for the past 6 years I have witnessed so much that brings me to my knees. I often become overwhelmed by the need I see around me. Recently I became aware of this precious young girl Srey 'N'. Her whole life has been spent living in abject poverty yet she still exudes such a beautiful soul and smile.
Srey N's family work hard and long hours but they cant seem to be able to lift themselves out of this difficult life. Could you imagine living in the house you see in this picture? When our social worker sent me this photo after they completed a family assessment, my heart skipped a beat. I felt completely heartbroken. I felt incredibly guilty as I had just returned from an outing with a friend and was filled with my own self pity because I couldn't afford to buy a pair of boots I fell in love with.. Meeting young girls like Srey 'N' can really help to put your own lives in to perspective.
The positive of this story is that now this precious young girl is a part of our Girls Education Program. Her family now has someone to share their burdens with. I am compelled to do something.
Sometimes you just need a "HELP UP" and someone who believes in you..
We don't normally raise funds for a specific family, but I am reaching out to you our friends and supporters to help us raise enough funds to help this family. We need to purchase a small piece of land and build them a home.. work with mum and dad to develop a small self sustainable business and ensure Srey 'N' is able to attend school. We are looking for individual donations for the family as well as a sponsor for Srey 'N'. We need to raise around $5,000USD.
Any donations within Australia are tax deductible.
